Cataning Elem Holds Brigada Eskwela

Cataning Elementary School joined the nationwide “Brigada Eskwela 2012” last May 21 to 28, 2012. This program aims to prepare all public schools for the opening of classes.

A foot parade cued the opening of the event, which was joined by teachers, Cataning barangay officials, Kabalikat members, For Peace members, parents and pupils. In the short program Mrs. Amelia Inieto, the principal of Cataning Elementary School, acknowledged everyone who joined the parade. Recognition was also given to those who donated cash and materials for the accomplishment of Brigada Eskwela. She also cited the importance of the event and encouraged everyone to help the school be ready for the opening of classes.

The concentration of the week-long program was on the preparation of comfort rooms, Education Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro says "Our thrust in this year's Brigada Eskwela is on school sanitation because it is also where personal hygiene is reinforced among our students which can, in turn, help develop their self-esteem". Aside from that, cleanliness on the environment was also prioritized. Teachers have their room repainted, cleaned and repaired.

Through the spirit of “Bayanihan,” Brigada Eskwela mobilizes parents, teachers, students, civic groups, and non-government organizations, soldiers, and community residents to take part on this project. -Gemma Rose D. Loyola
